Chronotype of doublethink: Stalin’s bunker at the Shostakovich street

The article characterizes the «paradoxes of existence» of Soviet artist in the social-cultural context of the 1940s. The author refers to the phenomenons of «doublethink» and «double-comprehension» to recreate the complicated and contradictory atmosphere of this period. Called contradictions are reflected in the creative biography of Shostakovich too: The Seventh Symphony is adjacent to the vocal cycle on the poems by English and Scottish poets, as well as the unfinished opera «Gamblers» on the play by Nikolai Gogol.
