Research sphere and interests

T. V. Frantova works in such research areas, as polyphonic music, the issues of the artistic counterpoint and polyphonic thinking in culture and art, works by A. Schnittke, the creativity by Rostov composers and musicologists (G. Gontarenko, A. Kusyakov, E. Urinson), problems of modern music, contemporary music culture, the history of composition musicology, topical problems of music pedagogy.

Publications

T. V. Frantova is the author of numerous academic publications, including monograph "The Polyphony by A. Schnittke and New Trends in the Second Half of the Twentieth Century" (Rostov-on-Don, 2004), textbook "Canon in the Music of Russian Composers of the Second Half of the Twentieth Century" (Rostov-on-Don, 2008), compiler, editor, author of comments and preface of the publication "Letters by Alfred G. Schnittke to Maria V. Ozhigova. Memories of Maria Vladimirovna Ozhigova" (Rostov-on-Don: RSRC, 2016).

Activities

T. V. Frantova is the leading specialist in the teaching of polyphony and methods of music composition of the twentieth century. She is the head of the projects for the research and implementation of integrated theoretical courses for musicologists and composers, the supervisor for the scientific work of students and PhD student. Under her leadership undergraduate and postgraduate students have repeatedly won all-Russian contests of academic works. Also 6 PhD theses and 40 of the thesis of specialists in musicology were prepared and successfully defended under her academic supervision. Over the years she has been the participant and organizer of International and Russian academic conferences.

T. V. Frantova is the member of the Dissertation Council at the Rachmaninov Rostov State Conservatory.
