Research sphere and interests

Natalya I. Yefimova works in the study of Gregorian chant and early Christian musical culture in Western Europe.

Publications

N. Efimova has 45 publications on the topics of art history. Her monograph "Early Christian singing in Western Europe in VIII–X Centuries" is included in the list of literature recommended by the Expert Council of All-Russian Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation to the program of master's examinations in the specialty "Arts" (music).

Activities and awards

In 1994-1995 N. Efimova intern at Heidelberg University (Ruprecht-Karls-Universitat), where she gave lectures on the history of Russian music. She is the member of the international University Society “Heidelberg Alumni International” and the member of the international club of Humboldt Fellows (Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung).

Also she is the Deputy Chief Editor of the academic journal "Bulletin AHI"; member of the Editorial Board of the interdisciplinary academic journal "Voice and speech" of the Russian Public Academy of Voice (included in the list of publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation); Member of the Dissertation Council of the Higher Attestation Commission at the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts.

Since 2001 N. Efimova has been the professor at the Moscow M. V. Lomonosov State University (Faculty of Arts).

She has prepared 11 PhDs, at the present time supervises dissertations and theses, gives lecture courses “Music as the Form of Art”, “Theory of Music Content”, “History of Notation”, as well as theoretical discipline cycle: “Harmony”, “Analysis of Musical Works” and other.

N. Efimova is the curator of postgraduate studies and scientific workers specialized in music. Also she is the member of the Dissertation Council D 210.010.03 at the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, the expert at the Siberian Regional Training Centre (specialty Arts and Culture), jury member of International S. Rachmaninoff Competition (2009-2013), member of the Commission for Licensing of Higher Education Institutions in the Russian Federation (2012-2013), the nominee of the International Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany: 1994/95), the nominee of the Grant of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, 2003 (for the monograph). She was awarded with the Badge “Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation” (2004).
