Structure features of I.Brahms’s secular cantatas
Author’s main attention is drawn to the examination of the influence of stanzaic prosody upon Brahms’s vocal and orchestral music. Secular cantatas are analyzed in details from the point of view of the interaction of word and music structures, the use of couplet-variation and variant song forms, the striving for metaphysics, the combination of the influence of vocal and instrumental forms upon a music composition. The article is provided with tables demonstrating music form of cantatas as well as with score examples.
