Specifics of composer’s activity of modern military conductors (on the example of works of A. B. Golovin)

The article is dedicated to the composer’s activity of modern military conductors. The purpose of the article is to establish specific features of military bands music development. The objectives were to study the modern stage of the military music development history in Russia, to examine the repertoire of brass bands, to consider key aspects of the work of military conductors and composers at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Documents from the archive of the 24th military orchestra (joint strategic command of the Southern Military District), as well as materials from the personal archive of lieutenant colonel, military conductor A. B. Golovin served as a material of the study. On the example of his compositions, the specifics of formation of the modern repertoire of the military orchestra are considered. In particular, it is established that the most significant works of art music that reflect the climaxes of Russian military history and military glory of Russia, such as the Second Symphony («Bogatyrskaya ») by A.P. Borodin, the choir «Аrise, Russian People!» from the cantata «Alexander Nevsky» by S.S. Prokofiev, the musical tableau «The Battle of Kerzhenets» from the opera «The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevroniya » by N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov are an integral part of the modern repertoire of the 25th military orchestra. Finally, it is concluded that it is necessary to publish and perform the works of A.B. Golovin. It is noted that the expansion of the sphere of musical art of military bands will create conditions for the preservation of historical memory, cultural identity and unity of the multi-ethnic and multi-religious population of Russia.
