The way to the opera-drama in A. S. Dargomyzhsky’s creation

The article is devoted to the problem of defining the genre in A. S. Dargomyzhsky’s operas. Analyzing the dramaturgy of his operas, the composer’s and other musical critics utterances and also research investigations the author of the article makes the conclusion, that the genre of lyrical psychological drama in its chamber variant was gradually crystallized in A. S. Dargomyzhsky’s works.
