The folklore ballet «The Quiet Don» by L. Klinichev: the principles of musical characteristic and the problems of thematism

The author’s interpretation of the ballet «The Quiet Don» by L. Klinichev as folklore composition is presented in the article. A special attention is paid to intonation and thematical connections of this ballet with Don folk song and musical characteristics of the main personages. The introductory essay notes weightly importance of E. Urinson’s research and enlightment activities conformly to music by Rostov composers.
