Kiev years in the destiny of L. Khinchin

This research essay is dedicated to the events of 1948–1949 in the musical culture of Ukraine. The author draws on little-known archival documents and publications of press to recreate the chronicle of «violence on cosmopolitans without kith or kin» in the musical establishments of Kyjiv. Special attention is paid to the episodes of the called chronicle involving L. Khinchin – the «fighter for true professionalism» in musical scholarship and art criticism.
