«Mozart and Salieri» and «Boris Godunov» in the creative destiny of N. Rimsky-Korsakov
The article is devoted to the opera «Mozart and Salieri» as a unique phenomenon in the context of the evolution of operatic works by Rimsky-Korsakov. The author of the article emphasizes the peculiar features of dramatic composition, style, vocal writing which are characteristic of the opera. The artistic conception of «Mozart and Salieri» is considered by the researcher on the basis of the subject and non-subject dynamics of the relations between the main characters-«antagonists». Deeply personal, intimate idea of the opera is presented in conjunctions with some facts of composer’s creative biography for a period of the 1880–1890s (depth study of counterpoint, pedagogical activity, editing of works by Mussorgsky, etc.).
