Memoires on blockade of Leningrad. The publication and comments by K. Zhabinsky; the introductory article by G. Khoroshailo

The present publication сontains unpublished memoires on blockading Leningrad belongs to prominent native opera director of Soviet age M. Ozhigova (1908–1987). The author relates about heavy trials of war space, creative activities by musical institutions and separate musicians in exceptionally severe conditions of the beleaguered town (among them – D. Shostakovich, R. Gruber, A. Anisimov, A. Lebedeva, L. Krutz and others). The comments to published text include some fragments from other memoir sources which throw light upon the picture of musical life of blockading Leningrad. The introductory article emphasizes the most important landmarks of M. Ozhigova’s professional biography, defines her personal contribution to work of the Opera school and the Department of Solo singing of Rostov State Musical-Pedagogical Institute.
