Timbre aspects of traditional instrumental Indonesian music
The article discusses the role of timbre (timbre-form) in Indonesian instrumental music as an example of one of the demonstrations of traditional Indonesian culture phenomena – trance action Reyog Ponorogo. The researcher points out the need for adequate methodological approaches in the study of musical artifacts from cultures mythological type. In this regard, it presented the socio-cultural context of the trance that shown its role in traditional Indonesian culture. Attention is drawn to the religious and philosophical ideas, which is the basis of the twin myths (twin brother and sister), typical for South-East Asia. It is noted feature of the twins of mythology: the combination of mythological opposites in a mythological way. The author believes that it is tonal aspect of trance action helps to identify specific patterns of structuring time ritual space timbre-form level (tone-color, timbre- rhythm and timbre-intonation relations) under heterophony. We give a literary foundation trance action. It describes the tools gamelan orchestra.
