Horizons of creative self-development (Towards the thirty-year of the Studio of Clavier Hearing in Rostov Conservatory)

The article introduces the brief retrospection of research-creative activity proceeding by the innovative subdivision of Rostov State Musical-Pedagogical Institute – Rachmaninov Rostov State Conservatory – in the 1990s – 2010s. The author formulates the priority aim to be decided in the elective special course “The Studio of Clavier Hearing” for students – musicologists and performers. The mentioned aim is overcoming of traditional “distance” between theory knowledge and practical skills which are acquired for a period of higher music education. The key term “clavier hearing” is regarded as productive metaphor that allows outline the fundamental principles of work in the named subdivision and project the ways of dynamic professional self-development for younger specialists to be completed the appropriate course. Further the most important criterions of selection conformably to potential members of the Studio are defined, and the significant directions in realization of the main research-creative projects are described, and the subjects of scholar works accomplished by students and graduates of Rostov State Musical-Pedagogical Institute – Rachmaninov Rostov State Conservatory during the named thirty- year period are elucidated. A special attention is spared to “exclusive” concert programs (which include the pieces by J. S. Bach, G. F. Telemann, H. Purcell, Ph. E. Bach, J. C. Pepusch, J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, etc.) prepared and successfully represented to exacting professional audience in the process of the mentioned course learning. The following conversion and purposeful development of the Studio most important principles are retraced in the more late discipline “Transcription and Interpretation of Baroque Music Texts” for students of performing specializations. The methodic significance of the mentioned innovation projects furthered accumulation of the various artistic materials and generalization of prospective ideas belong to the author of the article (in the manuals, phonic-reading-books, practical handbooks of the later decade) is noted.
