In search of truth and method: reflections on the dialectics of pedagogical creative activity by L. Varavina
The article characterizes the pedagogical activity of Lyudmila Varavina, the head of the Department of Bayan and Accordion, professor at the Rostov Conservatory. It is noted that for three decades, heading the Department of Folk Instruments, and since 2013 – the Department of Bayan and Accordion, L. Varavina strives to fully promote the progressive development of this university department in terms of improving the educational process. This is greatly facilitated by the productive atmosphere of creative search, invariably inherent in L. Varavina the teacher. The noted aspirations are realized not only in traditional forms of research and methodological work (lectures at conferences and seminars, holding master classes, compiling and editing manuals and repertoire collections). According to the author of the article, the class of special instruments by L. Varavina deserves special attention – it is here that non-trivial approaches to solving the most important problems related to the professional development of modern young musicians are crystallized, tested and improved. Thus, L. Varavina’s class appears to be a genuine laboratory of musicperforming pedagogy. Various connections and interactions of current methodological ideas and didactic techniques, on the one hand, are determined by the need to successfully solve the set “super task” – the most complete and comprehensive self-realization of the student in the chosen field of professional activity. On the other hand, this process of creative self-expression is constantly correlated with the fundamental principles of academic musical performance. Such “dual unity” predetermines the specificity of L. Varavina’s individual pedagogical method. This method is an example of true dialecticism, being inextricably linked with the artistic practice of the newest era and the processes of dynamic self-development of creative individuality.
