Irina A. Skvortsova

Irina Skvortsova is an artistic director and permanent presenter of the monthly educational programme “Meetings in the Music Room” (Moscow State Conservatory). She takes part in the organization and carrying out of the educational program "University of Musical Culture" (Moscow State Conservatory). She is the author of television films about P. I. Tchaikovsky, about the music of the times of the war of 1812, the initiator and artistic director of the project "Revival of the Russian opera classics of the XVIII century" in the Moscow State Conservatory, the author of the idea and artistic director of the staging opera projects “Orpheus by E. Fomin, and “The Rival Son” by D. Bortnyansky (2016 and 2017).

Research sphere and interests

The main area of I. Skvortsova`s scientific and creative interests includes the history of Russian music, the stylistic problems of Russian musical modernism, the avant-garde of the 1920s, the theoretical and historical problems of modern music, the psychology of creativity, musical archivalism, textology.

Publications

She is the author of more than 120 academic and methodological works in various areas of the Russian music history, including the monographs “Art Nouveau in Russian Music at the Turn of the 19-20th Centuries” (Moscow: Composer, 2009), “The Ballet by P. Tchaikovsky ‘The Nutcracker’: Experience of characterization” (Moscow: Moscow Conservatory, 2011), collections of articles “Rachmaninov and the 21st century. The Past and the Present ”(Moscow: Moscow Conservatory, 2016),“S. I. Taneyev and A. N. Scriabin. Teacher and Student "(Moscow: Moscow Conservatory, 2018), as well as academic articles in peer-reviewed academic journals.

Activities

A member of the Dissertation Council of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, a member of the editorial and publishing council of the S. V. Rakhmaninov House-Museum “Ivanovka”, prepared 6 PhDs as scientific adviser. I. A. Skvortsova is a regular participant of scientific symposia and conferences, organizer and participant of many international scientific projects and methodical conferences, head of grants of the RSHF, and scientific and creative projects funded by the Federal Target Program Culture.
