Principles of choosing musical material for dance and movement therapy in the practicing with disabilities children
The article discusses the issues of choosing musical material in the classes of dance and movement therapy (dancing therapy) for children with disabilities. A brief review of the literature on the research topic indicates the role of music in determining the methods of influencing stimulation and right activation of the nervous system and musculature of children with disabilities. At the same time, the author emphasizes that choose of musical works for therapeutic classes is debatable. The identification of the tasks and techniques of musical education, both traditional and art therapy, leads to the formulation of the principles of choosing musical material, specific compositions for various stages of dancing therapy classes for children with disabilities. The colossal potential of musical compositions – muscular-physiological and emotionalpsychological – must be applied in dancing therapy classes. In the process of music perception, muscle tone changes, the relationship between emotional state and motor activity, ligament contractions establish. Musical accompaniment helps young patients with various diagnoses to first discover those feelings that they do not suspect, and then process them. Under the guidance of a trainer, a dance-motor therapist, children are taught to translate aggression (the need for muscle relaxation, the desire to beat peers or a therapist) into strong handclaps and stomping feet). Music helps hyperactive children to calm down – using their own voice (pronouncing individual sounds, exclamations, phrases from songs, counting, etc.). G. Roth, and A. Churashov, and other specialists have identified and divided some basic “energy patterns” (“rhythms”, “elements”) correlating with appropriate movements. Therefore, practice has identified a number of principles for choosing musical material for classes, but the problems of choosing musical compositions for dancing therapy classes remain debatable – depending on the diagnosis, age, and number of children in the group, etc.
