Transcriptions of Clavier sonatas of the Classical Age in the contemporary domra player’s repertoire

The published article examines the prospects for enriching the concert and pedagogical repertoire of the Russian domra players to be associated with expansion of the sphere of musical classic transcriptions. It is noted the heritage of the Vienna Classical School is far from fully represented in this repertoire area. In particular, one of the most important classical genres – Clavier sonata – is represented by isolated transcriptions of the corresponding works by J. Haydn and W. A. Mozart (separate parts of the cycles). Meanwhile, the named genre absorbs the priority imagery-substantial, structural-compositional, musicallanguage and other constants of the mature classical style. In relation to the educational process of a musician-performer, an in-depth study of Clavier sonatas created by the greatest masters of the Vienna Classical School is an urgent task, solved in the inextricable duality of theoretical and practical components.

The researcher identifies multifaceted connections and interactions of keyboard sonatas of this era with the baroque and classical traditions of ensemble performing art, which favors the analytical fixation and targeted selection of “historically oriented” principles of modern “transcribing” of the named works for chamber ensembles “domra – piano”, “domra – bayan” etc. Some fragments of Clavier sonatas by J. Haydn (Sonata in E flat major, Hob. XVI:49), and W. A. Mozart (Sonata in B flat major, KV 333), and M. Clementi (Sonatina in D major, Op. 36 No. 6) transcribed for domra and piano by N. Didenko are used in the capacity of illustrations. The author of the article emphasizes the publications of the above and similar “transcription” works are intended to contribute to a more active replenishment of the elucidated sphere of the academic repertoire by contemporary musicians-performers.
